Ruellia makoyana...I just love love these! I saw these growing in KEW gardens a few years back and have had a plant crush even since. Super pleased to have these pretty little houseplants in, these are very rarely offered and are a pleasure to own. I found these very easy to look after and they produce beautiful pink flowers too. The leaves are soft like velvet and hairy, with light cream or silvery veins providing a contrast to the dark green leaves the underneath of the are purple in colour! A real gem and they are pet safe too!
Care: They do like a good drink so water once the soil starts to dry if you forgot to water like I have they soon spring back to life. Bright indirect light avoids the hot sun as this will make them wilt. I haven't find humidity a problem at all but naturally, they do prefer a little higher humidity.
Size: Pot Diameter 7.5cm Total height is approximately 20-25cm
Toxicity: These are not considered toxic or dangerous to people or pets.
Difficulty: Medium to hard, depending on your environment
Feeding: General, the majority of houseplants should be fed every 2nd watering during the growing season (Spring and Summer), for me, it's about which every 14 days. In autumn and winter, I feed less, as indoor plants will require fewer nutrients.
